Receiving sequencing data

Whenever you have the opportunity to acquire new data, from collaborators or from a sequencing center there are two main steps that need to be taken in order to save the data on the MIB server.

The first action to take is to generate a metadata table if you sequenced the data. The metadata file could be generated using the unlock metadata generator https://data.m-unlock.nl or https://fairds.fairbydesign.nl.

In the case of exchange with a collaborator, request a metadata file from your collaborator, to help in the process you can send a metadata file generated via unlock tool (see above) to your collaborator. We recommend generating the metadata file before receiving the data itself.

The second action will be to save the data on the server, for that you will assistance of the admins. Please, contact <bioinfo.mib@wur.nl> with the instructions to download the data, the metadata file and the type of data you are receiving. If the data and metadata is already on the server, the admin could copy it from there.

You would need to have account on the server to be able to access the data from there

Admins are not responsible for keeping track of your data, you should know which data is yours.

To summarize the different steps to be taken:

  1. Request an account on the server, if it's not the case yet. Request an account

  2. Generate the metadata file https://data.m-unlock.nl or https://fairds.fairbydesign.nl
